Like other post-industrial information terms such as 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines are very new to most Yolngu, causing lots of confusion. Even the English word ‘stroke’ does not mean very much. Some think it relates to the number of pistons in a motor. This goes on to cause trouble for Yolngu when they are buying oil and having conversations about maintenance of different types of engines. The Yolngu researcher for this program says that many people have been wanting to ask this question for years. The problem is that it’s difficult to find someone who can explain it to them in their language and through their own worldview. Now they have a program that answers one of these long time questions.
